My photography is largely informed by time spent over the last twenty years as a tour guide. Specializing in South East Asia and my home, New York City,I have also led tours in Asia, Europe, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and Russia. Years spent guiding groups of tourists helped me develop an eye for the range of flavors and nuances that characterize cultures.  Even the minutest detail can tell a story about its environment – whether it’s an old mason jar of fig preserves made from a generations-old recipe, or the hand-carved wood lotus flowers on an Indonesian love seat.

 

My Portraiture connects my subjects with their surroundings and allows each to inform the other. 

 

My food images not only reflect the care with which meals, signature cocktails, and desserts are prepared but the atmosphere in which they are prepared and enjoyed. From fresh open-air markets to dark, cozy taverns, I produce studio quality regardless of location.
